FAST, the faculty/staff publication at Western Washington University, is published biweekly in print and updated daily online. FAST encourages submissions from WWU faculty and staff members on items of interest to the WWU community. Submissions may be made to the FAST editor via e-mail at email@example.com, by phone at (360) 650-3350 or via campus mail to FAST editor, Office of University Communications, MS 9011, WWU. The guidelines below give a rough outline of what FAST accepts and is likely to print.
FAST accepts and regularly publishes:
Professional activities and achievements. These include awards, honors, research, publications, presentations and other professional activities. Activities outside the area also can be submitted for addition to Where in the World?, the online map showing the impact of WWU research and other activities on the global community.
Scheduled events related to WWU, including symposia, lectures, concerts, exhibits, recitals and plays. Events can be on or off the WWU campus but should have a connection to the University.
Awards given by the University, including those given for teaching, advising, research and service.
Suggestions for news and feature articles. Please keep in mind that the FAST editor is ultimately responsible for the content of FAST, both in print and online, and suggestions aren’t guaranteed to be published. However, every effort is made to ensure that all items of interest to WWU faculty and staff members are published.
News of births, marriages or deaths of WWU faculty and staff members.
Letters to the editor (will be published online only and are subject to vetting and editing by the editor).
Photographs. Photographs submitted to FAST are used on a case-by-case basis. Large collections of photographs of interest to WWU faculty and staff members might appear on the
FAST probably won’t publish:
Advertising of any kind, including classified ads.
Student or alumni news, unless closely associated with faculty/staff activities. Student activities should be submitted to the student newspaper, The Western Front, at http://www.westernfrontonline.net. Alumni information should be sent to the editor of WINDOW, the magazine for Western Washington University. Alumni information also can be sent to the WWU Alumni Association. Community activities. Activities unrelated to WWU that may be of interest to faculty and staff members are printed only if space allows, and preference is given to WWU events.
