From the weekend: Elaine Jones of Seattle's Allen Institute for Brain Science speaks at Western

Elaine Jones, chief operating officer of the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle, presented a talk titled “A Business Model for Changing the World” on Friday, Oct. 2, at Western Washington University that covered basic advancements in the field of neuroscience, highlight the world-renowned Allen Brain Atlas projects and discuss the Allen Institute’s unique business model.

On Saturday, the Pacific Northwest chapters of the Society for Neuroscience met at the Academic Instructional Center on Saturday. The meeting is believed to be the first neuroscience conference ever held at Western.

Earlier Friday, a panel discussion on “Women and Leadership” was held in the Communications Facility. Panelists included Elaine Jones; Maja Chaffe, general counsel; and Carol L. Thompson, program manager, all from the Allen Institute for Brain Science. The panel moderator was Kristi Tyran, WWU associate professor of Management.
