At the end of every quarter, the Western Washington University Alumni Association celebrates the accomplishments of the next generation of Western graduates. Volunteers are needed for an hour or two to help congratulate these students and distribute caps, gowns, tickets, prizes and grad packs. A pizza lunch will be provided for volunteers (as will plenty of '70s and '80s music!).

The senior celebration event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 20, in Viking Union Room Multipurpose Room on campus.

The Western Washington University Lakewood Jr. Sailing program is the oldest (since 1981) and most comprehensive sailing program in Whatcom County. Young sailors and windsurfers master skills in a natural environment that few activities can match. The emphasis is on fun with the goal of becoming “self-reliant and efficient.”

Courses begin June 21 at the Lakewood Water Sport Facility on the south shore of Lake Whatcom.

All students must know how to swim. Campers must be 11 years or older or over 100 pounds in weight.
