Western Washington University’s Urban Transitions Studio will present sustainable urban planning concepts from 7-10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, in the Council Chambers in City Hall at 210 Lottie St. in Bellingham.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will include a concept proposal for revitalizing downtown Bellingham’s retail core and a proposal for transitioning single-use retail zones into New Urbanism neighborhoods.

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics has opened the Small Business Development Center at 115 Unity St., Suite 101, in downtown Bellingham, as a service for local businesses in conjunction with the CBE’s existing Center for Economic Vitality.

Jennifer Shelton has been hired as the director of the new SBDC. She comes to Bellingham from the Edmonds Community College SBDC, and has worked in the field of business development and research for 17 years, including a stint at the CEV.
