At a January meeting of the President’s Cabinet at Western Washington University, a new policy, "Administering the State Employee Whistleblower Act (POL-U1000.15)," was reviewed and then approved by President Bruce Shepard. This policy notifies university employees of their rights under the State Employee Whistleblower Protection Act (Chapter 42.40 RCW).

The offices of Business and Financial Affairs and Academic Affairs at Western Washington University have posted the following policies for 30-day campus review from Jan. 29 to Feb. 28:

Western Washington University and the Washington Federation of State Employees have drafted a memorandum of understanding to clarify the Inclement Weather Policy as it applies to Bargaining Units A, B and E.

The proposed policy is a new policy. The policy will notify staff of their Whistleblower rights, explain how the university will administer the Act, and establish authorities for maintaining compliance.

Dec. 1 is the deadline to submit comments on the proposed Workers’ Compensation and Transitional Return-to-Work policy from the Department of Environmental Health and Safety at Western Washington University.

The policies were posted on Oct. 1, and comments no longer will be taken on these policies after Friday, OCt. 30.
