Western Washington University's Center for Economic Vitality and the Blaine Chamber of Commerce are partnering to provide a workshop designed to help businesses evaluate the opportunities and challenges involved in using social media. The workshop will be held from 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Blaine School District board room, located at 765 H. St., in Blaine. There is no charge for the workshop. Pre-registration is recommended; a light dessert will be provided by the Blaine Chamber of Commerce.

Joseph Garcia (Leadership Institute) attended the SACNAS national conference from Oct. 15 to 18 in Dallas. At the conference he gave a presentation as part of the Conference Leadership Institute titled “Leadership Style: Self Evaluation and Assessment.” He also conducted a workshop on decision-making and governance for the SACNAS Board of Directors at their board meeting prior to the conference.

huxley | workshop

Huxley College of the Environment plans to present a half-day, hands-on introduction to the Global Positioning System (GPS) from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, in Arntzen Hall Rooms 14 and 16 (Spatial Analysis Lab). Topics covered include the GPS System and the GPS equipment available at WWU. The class includes a classroom presentation as well as field and lab experience, which will take place rain or shine.

This workshop is offered once each quarter.
