Meetings upcoming to discuss Western's draft Climate Action Plan

Filed under:

Former WWU President Karen Morse's signature in January of 2007 on the President's Climate Commitment set WWU on a path to climate-neutrality.

In 2007, the WWU Office of Sustainability completed WWU's first Greenhouse Gas Inventory, defining the major sources and levels of greenhouse gas emissions. In late 2008 and 2009, the Office of Sustainability, with support of Facilities Management, began creation of the WWU Climate Action Plan, a roadmap to climate neutrality. WWU is one of the first fifty schools nationally to take on this important task.

Three discussion forums have been set up to allow the WWU community and the public to comment on the draft plan. Each of these events will cover the same information:

  • Noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, SMATE Science Lecture Room 110
  • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, SMATE Science Lecture Room 140
  • 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday,  Oct. 15, Viking Union Room 462 A&B

Please send all comments on the Draft Climate Action Plan to climateneutralwestern@wwu.edu. More information on the draft Climate Action Plan is available at http://www.wwu.edu/sustain/climateneutralwestern/.
