State law will limit campaign contributions in Whatcom County
The Bellingham Herald
A piece of legislation awaiting the governor's signature likely would end the historic amounts of cash raised by local Whatcom County Council candidates.
But Senate Bill 6344 won't prevent local political parties from spending large sums, and voters may end up getting a more transparent account of how candidates are connected to parties, one political science professor says.
Why this is relevant:
Todd Donovan, a professor of political science at WWU, is quoted in the story. Also quoted is former Whatcom County councilwoman Laurie Caskey-Schreiber, who works in the WWU Sociology Department.
