Funding for the Automotive X Prize comes from Progressive Insurance, with additional funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, Cisco and private donors. Among the entrants that did not make it to the podium were cars from Cornell and Western Washington University, Tata Motors, Tango Commuter Cars and ZAP.
