Occupy Olympia proves old adage: The empty drum bangs loudest
Inside the capitol on Tuesday, a different and hopefully more effective approach was being deployed. Leaders of the Associated Students of the University of Washington were quietly going one-on-one with legislators, more than 30 by mid-afternoon. They are, reluctantly, backing Gov. Chris Gregoire's proposed half-cent sales tax increase as the only way to ward off soaring tuition and more deep cuts.
