Proposed national park expansion topic of talk in Bellingham
The Bellingham Herald
An organization proposing to expand North Cascades National Park will present its idea Friday, May 4, at Western Washington University. The nonprofit American Alps wants to add almost 240,000 acres to the park, which currently is 504,781 acres. The park would extend farther west on Mount Baker Highway and North Cascades Highway, and would protect additional old-growth forest and low-elevation wildlife habitat.
