Western Washington University will test its emergency notification system and steam whistle Wednesday morning, Nov. 9. The university's steam whistle, known as Big Ole, will go off for several minutes starting at 10:55 a.m. About the same time, students, faculty and staff will receive an email and cell phone text messages through the university's Western Alert system.
