Water service has been restored to the Western Washington University campus after an early morning interruption that affected campus and much of south Bellingham.
A city water main broke this morning on 15th Street and between Larabbee and Donovan avenues, affecting water supply to campus in numerous buildings.
Students, faculty and staff may use water on campus, but anyone experiencing trouble with the water supply on campus should call Facilities Management at (360) 650-3420 to report the problem.
The Office of the Provost at Western Washington University is the winner of the Alumni Association's traveling goodie basket for Western Wednesday, Dec. 8.

A delegation from Bellingham's sister city of Nakhodka, Russia, is visiting the Western Washington University campus today.
The delegation has been in Bellingham for several days as part of the Open World Program, managed by the Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress.
Kathleen Saunders, a faculty advisor in the Western Washington University Department of Anthropology, has won Public Anthropology’s Eleanor Roosevelt Global Citizenship Award. Named to honor the 20th century's "First Lady of the World," this award recognizes Dr. Saunders' exceptionally effective participation in Public Anthropology’s Community Action Online Project as well her wider activities in the public sphere.
Provost Catherine Riordan has made recommendations to President Bruce Shepard, which the president has accepted, on the proposals considered by task forces and Deans involved with budget effects on: the Music Library; Scientific Technical Services (Immediate Needs); and STS (Chargebacks).
Karol P. Tomaszewski was born March 26, 1952, and died Dec. 6, 2010. After spending 30 years working as an engineer in the U.S. Merchant Marine, Tomaszewski started his second career with Western Washington University’s Steam Plant in November 2004.
While working at Western, he brought valuable experience to the facility, contributing to the positive work environment that employees continue to enjoy today.

During the fall 2010 Wheel Options promotion, 277 WWU employees used an alternative to driving alone at least two days between Oct. 17 and 30. The results included 29,390 miles not driven and 23,854 pounds of carbon dioxide not emitted into the atmosphere.
