Some employees may qualify for state assistance in paying their health insurance premiums, particularly for large families at the lower end of the pay spectrum.

Employees may be able to qualify for this assistance in two ways:

Members of the Western Washington University campus community are invited to participate as part of Western’s team in the 23rd Annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, to be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, in downtown Bellingham (starts and ends at Bellingham High School). The festive event is a two-mile walk or four-mile run, each participant receiving a long-sleeved shirt and outfitted with jingle bells. Costumes are welcome.

Because of the flooding that occurred in Old Main at Western Washington University last week, a number of offices in the building have been relocated. Rich Van Den Hul, vice president for Business and Financial Affairs, sent the following e-mail to WWU students, faculty and staff on Sunday apprising the community of the changes:

University Dining Services is again showing its appreciation and support for hard-working Western Washington University students, faculty and staff with the Red Eye Special, which returns to on-campus markets and cafes today, Nov. 29.

Samuel Tso, a Navajo Code Talker, will speak from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov 29, in Antzen Hall Room 100 on the Western Washington University campus.

External Education and Summer Programs' fall 2010 online newsletter, "Extended News and Views," is now available.

Included in the newsletter are a rundown of the variety of program offerings available for adults and youth and a recap of events from this past summer. There's also info on enrolling in an upcoming non-credit course and new and continuing programs for youth.

Print and Copy Services at Western Washington University is working with Whatcom Community College to offer the best of both areas to WWU clients.

The placement of the concrete floor in the new collaboration space in the former Miller Hall courtyard has been rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 29. Concrete ready-mix batch plants in Whatcom County have been shut down due to the recent freezing temperatures.

Human Resources has updated the list of employees who are eligible to receive shared leave in accordance with RCW 41.04.650 to include only the following names:

  • Randi Cattarin
  • Maureen Marshall

Employees may donate vacation leave, accrued sick leave and personal holiday leave as long as the donations don’t cause them to fall below the minimum balances. Leave donation forms are available in e-form version.
