The crew from Human Resources at Western Washington University snagged the Alumni Association's Traveling Goodie Basket today. The basket will be making the rounds one more time this quarter, on Dec. 1.

To be eligible to win the goodie basket, send photos of your office dressed in Western gear to alumni@wwu.edu by 10 a.m. on the Goodie Basket date. Creativity is encouraged, and all Goodie Basket winners are entered in a drawing for a catered lunch.

Have clothes you don't wear any more? Want to trade them for new (to you) threads?

The Associated Students club DIY Ethics and Arts Alliance is holding a style swap at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Viking Union Room 565.

“A Style Swap is an event where people can trade their unwanted clothing and accessories with others,” said Jessica Lynch, club president said. “People are welcome to bring everything: pants, shirts, dresses, hats, scarves, shoes, jewelry, etc.”

The event is open to the public.

Construction and demolition of phase two of the Miller Hall project began Sept. 13. The demolition phase of interior building systems is progressing as planned and is scheduled to be completed by the middle of December.

The demolition phase involves the salvage, removal and separation of material into recyclable groups: metals, concrete, wood. The large recycle containers on the construction site are hauled off site and replaced on a daily basis.

Human Resources has updated the list of employees who are eligible to receive shared leave in accordance with RCW 41.04.650 to include only the following names:

  • Derek Attwaters
  • Maureen Marshall

Employees may donate vacation leave, accrued sick leave and personal holiday leave as long as the donations don’t cause them to fall below the minimum balances. Leave donation forms are available in e-form version.

Need help figuring out scholarships, FAFSA and student loans? Business students at Western Washington University are offering a free class Nov. 3 on financing education.

The class is part of a series, called 'Money Sense,' that began Oct. 6. The seminars, which are geared toward college students, include food, prizes and information on the basics of money management and other relevant financial topics.

The Western Libraries is holding an event Thursday celebrating 100 years of women's suffrage. The event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 4 in the skybridge in Wilson Library.

Linda Allen and Rebel Voices will be performing at the event.

This free event is sponsored by the Cold Beverage Enhancement Fund and the Western Libraries. For more information, contact Sylvia Tag.

The Associated Students Productions Films, in association with Holland America/Princess Cruise Lines, are showing the psychological action film "Inception" for free at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.

The Associated Students Productions Viking Union Gallery will be showing "Warhorse: Wise to Ways" from Nov. 8 to Dec. 3 in the Viking Union Gallery, located in VU Room 507.

The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. An opening reception for the exhibit is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 9 in front of the gallery.

The Associated Students' EDGE High Course will reopen in late November after being closed for three months for renovations.

The course, located at the off-campus Lakewood facility, has been revamped. The $16,000 spent on the project added a trapeze jump, giant swing and vertical playpen.

Many of the old high-course activities had been up for more than 20 years and needed to be replaced, said Fred Collins, EDGE coordinator.
