Knute Skinner (English, emeritus) has had his poem "Green Light" published in "The Stony Thursday Book," from The Arts Office of Limerick City Council. New Series No. 8, 2009, p. 30.

Joseph E. Trimble (Psychology, WCE) recently published a book chapter with Paul B. Pedersen and Eduardo S. Rodela titled "The Real Cost of Intercultural Incompetence: An Epilogue" in the book titled "The Sage Handbook of Intercultural Competence," edited Duke University's Darla K. Deardorff. The book was published in October 2009 in Los Angeles by Sage Publications.

Jonathan Miran (Liberal Studies) recently had his book "Red Sea Citizens: Cosmopolitan Society and Cultural Change in Massawa" published in Bloomington, Ind., by Indiana University Press (2009).

John Miles (Environmental Studies) was interviewed about his new book "Wilderness in National Parks: Playground or Preserve" on TVW. The program, "Author's Hour" with Terry Tazioli, will air at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Joseph Garcia (Leadership Institute) attended the SACNAS national conference from Oct. 15 to 18 in Dallas. At the conference he gave a presentation as part of the Conference Leadership Institute titled “Leadership Style: Self Evaluation and Assessment.” He also conducted a workshop on decision-making and governance for the SACNAS Board of Directors at their board meeting prior to the conference.

Christopher Wise (English) had an essay recently published titled "The Novel, Historiography, and the Griot Epic in the Sahel" in Gaurav Desai's book "Teaching the African Novel" (New York: MLA, 2009): pp. 154-175. This book is a volume in the Modern Language Association's "Options for Teaching" series.

Randall C. Jimerson (History) recently published the book "Archives Power: Memory, Accountability, and Social Justice" (Chicago: Society of American Archivists, 2009). Grounded in historical and social theory, this analysis of the power of archives and the role of archivists in society calls for renewed emphasis on remembrance, evidence and documentation as a means of securing open government, accountability, diversity and social justice. Jimerson argues for development of an archival ethics of professional and societal responsibility.

Tim Costello (Center for Service-Learning) presented a paper titled "Rural Kenya: A Model for International Service-learning through Rich Reciprocal Partnerships" at the 9th International Research Conference on Service-learning and Community Engagement held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, from Oct. 9 to 12.
