In his first year at Arlington High School, softball coach Lonnie Hicks took over a team with obvious talent and desire, but one perhaps lacking in discipline.
That was something Hicks, an ex-cop, figured he could fix.
"Lonnie Hicks has resigned as the head softball coach at Western Washington University. Making that announcement was Vikings' director of athletics Lynda Goodrich.
Hicks posted a record of 227-205 in nine years at Western, half of the program's existence. The Vikings finished 27-25 in 2010 following a 13-17 start, and placed third in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings at 22-17."
